We have had the most amazing run of weather recently down here on the Isle of Wight, and the gardeners amongst us – not me I stress – are beginning to do rain dances. Odd, but true. But while not sheltering from the tropical rays, or the torrential rain, when it comes, we have been up to our eyes in hymn book projects.
King’s Gloucester have done a lovely reprint of their words only hymn book with just a tweak or two to the Preface and St John’s College School, Cambridge have recently taken delivery of their melody hymn book reprint, the original ordered in 2012.
We were delighted to help Richard Warden see his vision of a hymn book for Mill Hill School come to fruition, and to see its launch on YouTube at the Big Sing just before Easter. If you haven’t seen this, have a look here. What a great way to launch a new hymn book!
Upton House School and St Swithun’s School have had lovely new editions of their books delivered in the past few weeks, and we were delighted with the semi-bespoke edition of our Junior Hymn Book which we commissioned for Magdalen College School Junior School. The school had been struggling along with an increasingly tatty, words only book which was much in need of an upgrade, and we helped them customise our Junior Hymn Book to create a melody edition which all the pupils will greatly enjoy in the years to come. Nicola Moloney, Director of Music, said ‘We are so thrilled with our new Junior School hymn book. Gresham Books have been so helpful throughout the process ensuring our bespoke hymn book is personal, professional and practical. Thank you to Nick and the team!’
And as if that didn’t keep us busy, we were also out and about on the tank park helping the Royal Armoured Corps with a commemorative brochure for their 80th anniversary parade.
We are now in Leavers Book season. Hampton School took delivery of their annual book a few weeks ago, and this was really well received. Frank Keenan, Director of Alumni Relations & The Fitzwygram Foundation, said ‘The books went down very well, thank you for getting them done so quickly in the end. The books have become an essential part of the Leavers’ process and we will be putting in an order for them again next year.’
If you have not yet organised something lovely to give your leavers at the end of term, do give us a call; it’s not too late to order personalised books. Read more about our leavers’ books here
And we have some exciting projects in production right now including two fabulous school histories. We love a school history. Every school has a story to tell, and what a great way of connecting with pupils (current and future) and alumnae, and even raise funds in the process. If you’re thinking about creating a book about your school to commemorate an occasion or celebrate an anniversary, do get in touch. We’d be delighted to talk you through the process and show how we can offer marketing support to promote your book. Email info@gresham-books.co.uk or call 01983 761 389
